There is a detached, ever-absent quality to his being; a carefully crafted wall between what he is and what he wants others to see, and he tries to keep the canvas as bland as possible. To the world, Vere is an austere swordsman, lacking drive and belief, one foot out the door and hands dirty. To the small folk, he can be a casual, albeit dry conversationalist: trading jokes and jabs, offering a comment here and there and well, that is all. He makes it easy for people to forget him. He makes it easier for himself to leave.Then there’s the gentleness, the compassion seeping through the cryptic gaps, too. The passion, the anger, the fear. Vere is not above lashing out when cornered and it is oh-so easy to frighten a running animal. Wrong him once; you’ll never see him again. Trust is not a currency he deals in.

Verecah recently started to walk the path of a healer. Thanks to his growing tendency to injure himself, he's more and more reliant on medical care in immediate reach. So far he has been trying to teach himself, and though not entirely hopeless, he's in need of some well-meant guidance. His current skillset narrows down to basics only and isn't enough to help him out of dire situations (and the aid of magic doesn't appear to his in his area of expertise, either).Yet, no matter how wounded he is, Vere insists on dealing with his constantly bandaged arms and hands himself.

As a never-tiring traveller, Vere has tried out a myriad of different occupations, ranging from mercenary for hire to cartographer. The swordsman rarely speaks about his origin and upbringing — what little information he divulges is vague and hard to place. Any ties to the former Dalmascan empire are kept blurred at best; he avoids both his kin and conquerors and there’s no family, no home, nothing left to track him back to. Or so he thinks.( Feel free to ask for more OOC info on his connection to Dalmasca & the Garlean Empire if this strikes your fancy ! )

One thing he prides himself on is his understanding for foreign languages. Vere's well-versed plethora in speak and writing allows him to enter places that are hard to reach and connect to people that are hard to find. His hunger for more doesn't end with what he has; he wants and will try to attain a wider knowledge on known and unknown cultures.

Any person with an affinity for aether and a deeper attunement to its flow would figure quickly that there's something off about this viera. His aether seems repressed, stalled, like knotted roots bound to still. He barely has any access to it, and this affliction affects his body in ways he doesn't admit to.
